Zeotap CDP resolves the storage region for ingested data from the country associated with that data, using the country-to-region mapping on this page. No country code appears in more than one table, so each code resolves to exactly one region.
The region names are storage labels and do not follow political boundaries — EU here does not mean the European Union: the EU table maps African countries, Russia, Ukraine, Egypt, Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic territories to EU alongside the European ones; the US table covers the whole of the Americas and the Caribbean; and the IN table covers Asia, the Middle East, Oceania and the Pacific islands, including Guam and American Samoa. Read the mapping for the specific country code you send rather than inferring the region from its name.

How the region is resolved

  • From the country code. The Country defined at the time of source mapping resolves the region the data is stored in. Set it when you initialise the Zeotap JavaScript, using three-letter country codes such as USA, DEU or IND.
  • From the IP address, as a fallback. When the country code is absent, the IP address of the request is used to decide the region instead.
Send an explicit country code whenever you know it, so that the storage region does not depend on the network a request happens to come from.

No. EU is the name of a Zeotap storage region, not a statement about European Union membership or about any regulatory regime. The EU table maps African countries, Russia, Ukraine, Egypt, Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic territories to the EU region alongside European countries. Look the country code up in the mapping above rather than assuming the region from its name.
The IP address of the request is used to decide the region instead. Send an explicit country code whenever you know it, so that the storage region does not depend on the network a request happens to come from.
Three-letter country codes — for example USA, DEU or IND. Set the code when you initialise the Zeotap JavaScript; if it is missing, the IP address of the request decides the region.
In the initialisation options of the integration you use: user_country in the Web JS SDK and the React Native package, userCountry in the Android and iOS SDKs, and the User Country field in the Google Tag Manager tag.
